Kali in the Twelve Processions of Light and Darkness:

A Tantric Practice of Body, Heart, and Voice

with Professor Douglas Brooks

Saturday, February 13th, 1-4PM and 6-9PM & Sunday, February 14th, 12:45-3:45PM

she is the great light that appears in the darkest recesses of our being.  she is the most elemental powers of hope and love and yet she is called never without time, death, or fear.  she leads to the most elemental and primordial pathways of the heart; she follows the most challenging and compelling avenues of thought and feeling; she cries out in the voices of primal recognition and passion.  the twelve processions or dvadasakalikrama is a great tantric teaching that invites us to sublime, empowering, and deeply empowering understandings of ourselves, nature, and our connection to life and death.  we will explore kali’s mythic vision and symbolic narratives, learn the 12-fold forms she chooses and map these onto our bodies and into minds, and we will learn to sing and experience inwardly the mantras that create her subtle manifestation within us.  this is a rich, beautiful, compelling, and heartfelt teaching that draws upon ancient primary sources of kashmir shaivism and shakta tantrism woven in the penetrating wisdom of the auspicious wisdom lineage of rajanaka yoga and brought into the relevance and reflection of our contemporary lives.  no previous experience is expected or required.  bring yourself and a willingness to explore the depths of yoga.

Subrahmanya in the Forest: Interweaving Asana, Mantra and Pranayama
with
certified AnusaraŽ yoga teacher Eric Stoneberg and Brad Roberts

Sunday, March 7th, 12.45-3.45pm

join us for the interwoven arts of asana, mantra and pranayama while we explore one of the more secreted visions of the divine, shiva's son subrahamanya. most yogis are familiar with Ganapati, the elephant-headed Lord, but his brother Subrahmanya remains more hidden among the pantheon of yogic Gods. Sometimes called Murugan, Karttikeya or Skanda, he is particularly beloved in the deep South of India among lineages of Householder Tantrics. In this workshop, participants will deepen their technical knowledge of of asana, mantra and pranayama in a deeply experiential class, layering these practices so that each enriches the others. This layering will welcome us in to the dense forest of our own hearts and minds to empower our creative insight by layering a vibratory tapestry woven out of the body, the breath and the voice. No prior experience is needed, just an open mind and willing heart.

eric stoneberg is a certified anusaraŽ yoga teacher and staff member of virayoga. brad roberts leads monthly mantra classes at virayoga and is the frontman for the crash test dummies.both eric and brad are dedicated students of rajanaka yoga, a tantric tradition of auspicious wisdom.
