Founded by John Friend in 1997, Anusara Yoga presents a unique approach to hatha yoga
in which the spirit of your heart powerfully blends with your precise alignment and balanced action
through asana and meditation. The initial philosophical basis of the practice, continually elucidated
by Dr. Douglas Brooks, is called Rajanaka Yoga.

The word "Anusara" originates from a line in the Kularnava Tantra,
"shaktipata-anusarena shishyonugraham arhati."

Anusara offers a vision that is inclusive of all religious affiliations and requires only a willing heart..

Anusara Yoga for New York City:

VIRAYOGINS

a summary,
and an amendment to
our most recent messages:
three routes
toward more ease in your life.

separate your attention
[simultaneously take inner "snapshots"
of your inner state + your outer experience;
you're manifesting the pause between
any experience and your internal reaction(s)].

practice precision in your yoga to
reveal expansion in every experience

[get clear on the Anusara Principles of Alignment;
as a result of your alignment externally
you're ensuring that you are spacious and
nourishing yourself on a cellular level internally ].

sit and breathe
[take five minutes every morning
to sit still and simply notice
the litany of tiny internal reactions.
once you've noticed one or many,
breathe patiently, internally;
that patience will infuse
every interaction externally].

with great gratitude,
elena
