Anusara Yoga, founded by John Friend, is a unique approach to hatha yoga in which the spirit of the HEART powerfully blends with the precision of biomechanical ALIGNMENT and balanced energetic ACTION in the performance of asanas (yoga postures). The word "anusara" originates from a line in the Tantric text called the Kularnava Tantra, "shaktipata-anusarena shishyonugraham arhati." Anusara literally means to be in the flow, in the current of the Divine, flowing with Grace. The philosophical basis of Anusara, as elucidated by Dr. Douglas Brooks, is called Rajanaka Yoga. |

FALL AT VIRAYOGA: Living in Your Heart "Renounce mental curiosity to 'know' through the certitude of your heart." -I. Schwaller de Lubicz This past summer we explored how to observe the connection between your emotional states and your thoughts.
When we become emotional in any way, we forget to breathe; then unintentional, speculative thoughts take center stage.
Once we've practiced remembering to breathe,
no matter what's happening, our breathing becomes familiar and the pause between emotion and thought becomes more vast and clear. That pause allows you to live in the quiet confidence of your heart with more consistency. When you're living in your heart, you'll notice an emotion forming in your belly~ and breathe it into your heart before it becomes a distracting thought. When you remember to breathe, notice how your heart mediates,
transmutes and softens
the challenging moments
in your effort to be present. Practice this in your yoga and it will become your life. This Fall, observe how your simplest breathing
enlists and then enhances the
capacity of your HEART
to open, receive, give and KNOW.
With gratitude and respect, elena, lynn and the staff of VIRAYOGA |
